Lyraani

The Lyraani are a hyper-intelligent race of vaguely humanoid beings residing in the Persius arm of the Milky Way. They used their advanced understanding of biology genetic modification to biosynthetically manufacture Lyrite, or as it is known elsewhere, the Shatter. Originally intended to be a powerful terraforming and construction tool Lyrite has been used by the Lyraani for a millennium to colonize and transform worlds across the galaxy to turn empty, desolate planets into beautiful landscapes.

However, when the Carnax invaded and destroyed one of the planets colonized by the Shatter, several Lyraani were shocked and disgusted at their sheer brutality and destruction. To shape the universe in the image they envision, they vowed to purify the evil Carnax and any thing else that stood in their way. They developed an attitude of peace through suppression, no matter the cost.

These few Lyraani have since turned Lyrite into a tool of war and have constructed interstellar vessels to pursue the Carnax.

Lyraani are obsessed with perfecting life. They are engineers who create and form biomass and synthesize biological forms, terraform worlds, and “correcting” existing life into a form that they approve of. Sometimes granting sentience to that which should not exist.
