Primals Design

Visual Design

Primals exude a rugged and savage appearance. They wear tattered and scavenged clothing, covered with patches, dirt, and grime. They are adorned in makeshift accessories, often made of scraps of rusty metal. Their equipment matches their attitude: disjointed, apocalyptic, and fierce. Their attire is a mix of muted colors allowing them to blend into their wasteland surroundings. Some have tribal markings or tattoos symbolizing their allegiance to their bands.

Goals

Survival of the fittest is the driving force of any Primal; looting, pillaging, and plundering those not strong enough to stop them. They are nomadic raiders, seeking resources and supplies wherever they can find them. They have little regard for the well-being of others, and their actions are driven by their desire to survive outside of societal structures and seize whatever they want.

Biology

Primals are a diverse group of humans hailing from different backgrounds. They fall into two categories: small and emaciated, or large and muscular. Many thrive in the harsh wastelands while many others suffer and wither away.

Psychology

They are ruthless and cunning, driven by predatory instincts. They possess a strong sense of self-preservation and quickly resort to extreme measures to achieve their goals. Their psychology is shaped by the constant struggle for survival and the necessity to outwit and overpower others. They employ sneak attacks and ambushes, or overpowering ferocity. Nothing scares them for they have nothing left to lose.

Language

Primal communication is a blend of broken language and hand signals, developed to facilitate covert communication during surprise attacks. Their common tongue is English, however their vocabulary often includes crude and aggressive expressions as well as guttural, primal noises reflecting their savage nature.

Architecture

Primals live in makeshift settlements within the ruins of former cities or hidden camps scattered across the wastelands. Their architecture is carved out from ruined, ancient buildings and natural tunnels. They are adaptive constructed from salvaged materials and whatever resources are available. Their living quarters exist purely out of necessity.

Technology

Primals are resourceful scavengers, using an assortment of stolen and improvised weaponry and tools. Their technology is a mix of salvaged weapons, modified armaments, and repurposed GenTech Hunter and Enforcer parts, demonstrating their ability to adapt and make use of whatever they find. It is often rudimentary but effective.

Hierarchy

Each band of Primals operates with a loosely organized hierarchy, with an alpha-type leader delivering commands. This pecking order is based on strength, cunning, and a mixture of both fear and respect among the band members. Leaders are often ruthless and rarely charismatic, capable of uniting their bands under the promise of bloodlust.

Social Structure

Primals operate in small, tight-knit bands, each with its own social structure. Band members rely on each other for survival and operate as a close-knit family, sharing resources and supporting one another in the harsh wasteland environment. However, they live with an “every man for himself” mentality, inconsiderate of the needs of others over the needs of themselves.

Command Structure

The command structure within a band of Primals is often based on strength. The leader makes strategic decisions and determines the targets of raids and ambushes, though suggestions and input from other band members may also be considered.

Weaponry

Primals utilize a wide range of weapons, mostly scavenged and improvised. Their arsenal includes crude blades, spiked clubs, makeshift explosives, and modified firearms. Some bands possess repurposed GenTech Hunter or Enforcer armaments, providing them with an added advantage in combat. They tend to attack the unsuspecting from hidden vantages.

Vehicles

Due to their nomadic lifestyle, Primals rely primarily on their agility and stealth on foot. However, some bands have acquired stolen and salvaged vehicles such as Grizzly Transports, allowing them to strike quickly and disappear before their targets can mount an effective counterattack.
