Baba Yaga, Mother of Hags

The Baba Yaga is a wicked archfey as well as the patron deity of all hags. Insane by any standard definition of the word, even her followers regard her as a fickle being who would be just as likely to devour them as aid them in a time of need, depending upon the Hagmother's mood. It is said that there is no fey more dangerous to make a deal with, but also that the secrets held by the Baba Yaga can rival even the knowledge of Vecna.
When the infant Leliana was targeted by Levira, her desperate parents pleaded for someone, anyone, to help save their daughter. The Baba Yaga answered their call, telling the two half-elves that she would spirit the infant away and hide her from those dark forces that wanted their child's life. The price for this service was simple: everything. They would forever belong to the Baba Yaga in heart, mind, body, and soul. They would never know the daughter they wished to protect and her safety would be forfeit should they ever rebel against Baba Yaga. With no other way to keep their child safe, they accepted.
Baba Yaga gave the infant girl to a green hag and hid them away in the Giantsheel Swamp on Nexus, protecting her through trickery and guile rather than locking her within a large and obvious fortress. Leliana stayed there until she was 16 years old, at which point Levira managed to track her down. Knowing her green hag could not face Levira directly, the Baba Yaga provided her servant with a magic hand mirror that trapped Levira inside. It was not until a year later that the arrival of the Headhunters saw the green hag killed, Levira freed, and Leliana thrown into a new life of adventure.
Though Leliana remains unaware of it, the Baba Yaga continues to keep an eye on her to this day. Her parents are still in the Hagmother's service and unaware of everything their now grown daughter has accomplished, and until that changes the Baba Yaga will continue to provide her with at least some modicum of protection.
