Callarduran Smoothhands, Svirfneblin God of the Earth's Depths

Callarduran Smoothhands is the patron god of the svirfneblin (deep gnomes) and one of the few non-Evil deities associated with the Underdark. In ancient times, Callarduran led his mortal followers deep belowground in an effort to encourage diversity amongst the gnomish peoples. It is said that he was the one who taught those gnomes who would become the svirfneblin the magic to summon forth earth elementals, to better aid them in the new challenges of living under the ground. He is one of the most solitary of deities and rarely interacts with any other gods, not even other gnome deities. His only care is for the safety and prosperity of his mortal worshippers and he is known to step in to defend his people when necessary, sometimes even directly.
While his people normally use magic and misdirection to hide from those who do them harm, he encourages them to eliminate the evil peoples of the Underdark whenever the opportunity to do so arises, particularly the drow. This has obviously made him an enemy of the Spider Queen, and by extension placed great animosity between his people and the drow. His clergy, particularly the Wardens of the Webspinners, are largely the ones responsible for svirfneblin battles against the drow both offensively and defensively, as the drow are known to return the favor when they can and turn the svirfneblin from hunters to hunted.
