Drakes

Drakes are a species of lesser dragon, ranging anywhere from the size of a house cat to as large as an adolescent true dragon. They are largely creatures of their environments; depending on their physiology, one type of drake may be as at home in a populated area as another type is in the unpopulated wilds. Despite their smaller sizes, drakes are still dragon-kin and therefore dangerous to those who choose to make enemies of them. Like true dragons, drakes often possess some form of breath weapon and sometimes some degree of spellcasting as well.

Types of Drakes

• Alehouse drakes have a penchant for gossip and are most often found in bars, taverns, and inns. Their appearance resembles an iguanas with wings, causing them to sometimes be mistaken for pseudodragons, though their personalities vary greatly with some helping the proprietors of the establishments they make their homes and others starting bar brawls for the fun of it. They also possess a degree of innate magic that can replicate the effects of ingesting alcohol and are said to be able to make others feel drunk with a touch.
