Luthic, Orc Goddess of Caves
Luthic is the orc goddess of caves, female orcs, healing, and home, as well as the wife of Gruumsh, Orc God of War. Whereas her husband is the chief deity of common orcs, Luthic is primary worshipped by their orog cousins. Luthic's influence is the reason orogs are most commonly found living in caves underground and it is by her grace that they are stronger, smarter, and more capable than other orcs. She instructs her followers to be vicious and powerful, caring for each of them as if they were her own children with all the savagery of an angry mother bear. It is, in fact, the bear that is Luthic's favored animal and she sometimes appears in the form of such a beast when communing with her followers.
Whereas Gruumsh provides the fearsome force that leads conquering orc tribes forward, Luthic provides the bedrock upon which provides their society with stability. Despite being known for her easily provoked temper, she is also known for her kindness and is said to be the only member of the orc pantheon not wholly evil (or the least evil, depending who you ask). She is also arguably the wisest of the orc gods, more capable of long-term planning than her peers and able to steer Gruumsh away from short-sighted goals that would create long-term problems. Luthic is nothing if not a survivor, a trait which she ensures her worshippers, her children, strive to also embody.
