Massacre at Death Pass
The area that would become Lothal was once home to many orc tribes. While they warred among themselves as much as other races, one thing all full-blooded orcs could agree upon was their hatred of the fey. The tribe leaders settled their differences for long enough to come to an agreement: that they would form a temporary alliance to march into the Great Sengorian Forest and wipe out the fey once and for all. One of the largest warbands the land had ever seen was formed and began their march south.
They made it as far as the pass that leads into the Great Forest, not even into the forest proper, when the Fey Lords struck. To call this conflict a battle would be a gross overstatement; the orcs were but sheep that marched into the slaughter. By the time anyone else had the bravery to examine the battlefield, all they found were a great many orc bones. Not bodies, just bones. Countless bones that lay there to this day as an ever-present reminder that the fey are not to be trifled with. It was from this day forward that the formerly nameless pass earned itself a name: Death Pass.
