McGruger

McGruger was one of the founding Headhunters and the shortest-lived member of the group. The brash young paladin was trained in mounted combat, riding into battle on his trusty steed. This proved most useful when the group investigated a missing persons report that led them into the Giantsheel Swamp, where he was able to strike down will-o'-wisps under the control of the hag behind the disappearances. Unfortunately, this effort left him in a weakened state when Levira made her first appearance to the group. He was caught in a blast of dark magic when Levira responded to Hugh's attempt to stab her along with his horse, Kiri, and the dwarf fighter Binwin. Unable to move after taking the brunt of the blast, McGruger bled out and died in the swamp.
Levira claimed his corpse and reanimated it into an undead bodyguard that was often seen accompanying her, though the Headhunters did not recognize their old companion due to the black armor & helmet Levira equipped it with. It wasn't until the Battle of Inkhear when Hugh knocked off the Black Knight's helmet that they realized it was their old friend McGruger. They succeeded in destroying the undead knight shortly thereafter, finally putting McGruger's body to rest.
