Primus, the Supreme Modron
Primus is the manifestation of the universal force of law, a being of perfect logic and strict order. It is he who establishes the near-perfect order within the plane of Mechanus, his will carried out by his modron creations. That said, Primus is not an infallible deity. It was Primus' attempt to imbue the chaotic plane of Limbo with lawfulness that inadvertently created the slaadi. His inconclusive adjudication of Asmodeus' famed trial against Mount Celestia was also responsible for binding the original archdevil to lawfulness, though some credit Primus' lack of action as a key factor in the creation of the Nine Hells not long after.
Along with being fallible, Primus is also killable despite his status as a greater deity. Several centuries ago, the demon lord Orcus temporarily rose to power under the name Tenebrous and slayed several deities including Primus. While this did highlight the threat Orcus presented and helped unite several other deities against him, it bore little effect on the workings of Mechanus. Shortly after Tenebrous' destruction, one of the high-ranking secundi modrons simply ascended to its old master's place and became the new Primus. This new Primus' personality is virtually identical to the old one, leaving some oblivious to the fact that the previous Primus was even killed.
