Sain Antazir

Sain Antazir is a drow who fled his home in Vlyn'darastyl to escape the abuse he suffered there. He ran to the surface and wound up in a port town where he met a woman named Molly, who was the most compassionate, caring woman he'd ever met. This came as a surprise to her neighbors who considered her hotheaded and were wholly unfamiliar with drow standards for such things. The two soon married and he returned to the Underdark with her, settling at the Deep Spire where they opened a tavern together.

Journey Into the Underdark Arc

While the adventurers of the Thaig Expedition saw Sain several times while eating and drinking at his bar, none of them were properly introduced until Leh'ct went to speak to him hoping to learn about Vlyn'darastyl.   Sain was alone in his bar when Leh’ct came in, greeting Leh’ct and saying he already knew who he was (calling him the famous "Last Arlathil"). Leh’ct ordered a sandwich and told Sain he intended to go to Vlyn'darastyl, asking if there was anything he should know about the city. After confirming Leh’ct did not worship Lolth, he advised the young druid to stay away from Vlyn'darastyl. Sain explained that while some Underdark denizens were allowed in for trade, Leh’ct and his surfacer companions were much more likely to be put in irons if they were lucky and sacrificed if they weren't.   When Sain questioned why Leh’ct wanted to go there, Leh’ct was open about looking for history that had to do with the city back when it was the dwarven settlement of Auldbaern. Sain told him that the drow cared nothing for non-drow history (most Houses not caring for any history outside their own) and would have made no attempts to preserve it. When Leh’ct asked about settlements beyond Vlyn'darastyl, Sain told him how the drow city was once flooded. They unflooded it by draining those waters into lower tunnels, drowning a mind flayer colony, two deep gnome cities, and a smaller drow city in the process. No other settlements had cropped up in that area since then.   At Leh’ct's asking, Sain next explained his own history, chiefly how he met his wife Molly. The description gave Leh’ct the impression that she was clearly a tough woman who had no issue with maiming a man for wronging her. Sain, by comparison, considered her a gentle soul for merely maiming instead of murdering in such situations, judging her by the drow standards he was raised on. Lastly, Leh’ct asked whether Sain had ever heard anything about a medusa in the area. Sain had not and went on to say that a proper monstrosity like that wouldn't be welcome in the Deep Spire.
