Orpheus

As the son of Apollo, Orpheus was a naturally gifted musician. One day he met the beautiful wood nymph Eurydice, and the two quickly fell in love and were married. However, one day Eurydice died from a snake bite. This event made Orpheus so depressed that his music made everything around him depressed--even stopping the world from spinning. The gods wanted to put a stop to this so they brought him to the underworld where he made a deal with Pluto. If he can guide Eurydice back to the surface world from the underworld without turning around, she will be revived. However, as he was a few steps away from the surface world his doubt got the best of him and he turned around, losing his love forever. He now lives in Apollo's temple depressingly wishing for his love to return.
