Reaper Art: Sins of the Past. When he is near negative emotions such as hatred his wounds are healed and he can even be revived. During his revival process, he stockpiles all the negativity he absorbed growing stronger and wiser than before.
When it came time to create the 12th Reaper, the Grand Reaper decided to gather all the negative memories of each player who has existed in this run of the Nexus to make Vanitas. With him being the second Reaper created for this version of the Nexus, the first being hollow, he has next to unlimited potential in what his true reaper form could be.
