Antaran
Clothing
Antaran clothing is as colorful as the people who wear it. It is common to see floral sarongs worn with Pelan tunics and belts, as well as t-shirts, denims, and jackets featuring Xurugwi buttons. Blue, white, and orange, the colors of the Antarand flag, are the most common colors--worn by people still fighting for Antarand's recognition as its own country. These are accessorized with jewelry made from shells and the antlers of the Antaran deer. Though there are a variety of hairstyles, most people wear their hair long. Most people also go barefoot, or wear slide sandals, with other footwear almost exclusively reserved for formal occasions.Rites and Rituals
Birth Rites
When a child is born in Antarand, the parents usually have a party in which they invites family, friends, and neighbors. Well-wishers often bring gifts of food and money to the parents and present the baby with candy to ensure the child's life will be sweet. This particular part of the tradition likely originates from the people of the Bathblast Islands. The secular celebration may or may not coincide with a religious ritual, depending on the faith of the family.Related Organizations
