Brave Sparrows
The Brave Sparrows, sometimes known only as the Sparrows, are the military branch of Kel's Rebellion. Their greatest focus is on infiltrating the government and eliminating officials who pose a threat to wizards.
Sparrow trainers differ from other teachers in the Rebellion because they focus on infiltration and battle tactics, whereas the goal of other teachers is to assist new wizards in general magical use and control. Sparrows who are going on special missions may receive training specific to those missions. For example, a spy would receive training in infiltrating their specific area, as well as any resources they have for obtaining and passing on information. In these situations, the Sparrows may reach out to other members of the Rebellion who have specific knowledge in these areas.
Position Within the Rebellion
Due to the danger of their tasks, as well as their positions within mainstream Linakran society, the Sparrows are often the leaders of the Rebellion. They create both long-term and short-term plans for bringing down anti-magic proponents and work with other long-term members, such as smugglers and teachers to put them into action.Recruitment
Members to Kel's Rebellion are usually recruited from mages and sympathizers who are found in hiding or broken out of prison. Those who have an interest in fighting back, rescuing others, and eventually taking down the government are invited to join the sparrows. Due to the incredibly dangerous aspect of the missions, the group is formed on a voluntary basis, but those who join also have to be willing to follow orders from a commander. Those who are unable to do this are likely to be relegated to more mundane jobs. Many Sparrows begin as smugglers and move on to Sparrow work due to a desire to have a more "active" role in the Rebellion.Training
Sparrows who have decided they want a less dangerous role in the Rebellion often become teachers for new Sparrows, training new recruits in whatever their expertise is. This includes skills such as hand-to-hand combat, blades and firearms, picking locks, withstanding torture, and battle magic. They will also sometimes teach skills, combat and weaponry in particular, to other Rebellion members who are not Sparrows, but want to be able to defend themselves and others if they are caught by soldiers.Sparrow trainers differ from other teachers in the Rebellion because they focus on infiltration and battle tactics, whereas the goal of other teachers is to assist new wizards in general magical use and control.
