Madu Plant
The Madu Plant is a the primary food source of the Fire Silk Moth. Though the presence of the plant in Alaj has made the country the primary exporter of fire silk, it has not only been used to attract moths. It has also been used by provincial leaders to send secret messages. In the desert provinces, strings of madu plants are hung over the doorways of temples that are willing to offer sancturary to those who have angered political bosses. In spring, in central Alaj, where the plant is most common, it is used to decorate dance halls for concerts and other events which are often used as a cover for spies to share information.
