The Leena Rebellion
The Leena Rebellion was a 1960 conflict in eastern Ethion in which the Pelan dominant city of Leena challenged the increasingly restrictive laws in the area.
to any who wanted to learn. The Pelan became a staple part of the community, and were particularly helpful in assisting hospitals and community organizations with the outbreak of The Southern Fever. The local temple in the area organized groups of people who could make masks for all in need, deliver food and supplies to the sick and those caring for them, and even offered extra space to overflowing hospitals at the peak of the pandemic.
Due to these events, as Ethite laws grew more restrictive for Pelan, many of the people in Leena often ignored them. Pelan continued to be allowed in public schools and local businesses, and Ethite Enforcers were even known to confirm that Pelan men, clad in an Ibi'an were not Pelan, but Ethite. As word got out that the people of Leena were not following the laws, President Solosol sent members of the military to put a stop to this behavior. She installed new local government officials and the assistance toward the Pelan became less overt. Many Ethites from Leena left the country, worried about the growing tension. Those that remained, along with many of Pelan citizens challenged the government in a protest outside the city hall. Solosol sent more military forces to put a stop to these protests. Upon arrival, the re-enforcements killed without mercy. Those who were not killed were arrested. Solosol had any Ethite enforcers who had been found to be assisting the Pelan publicly executed. Other Pelan supporters were imprisoned, while the few citizens who had reported the illegal activities were awarded with positions in the Wings, Solosol's task force intended to root out enemy activity in Ethion. This event inspired Solosol to build the Olivia Jin Detention Center on the site of the town, where any Pelan who had been arrested in the conflict were detained.
History
Known for its progressive local government, Leena was a city particularly welcoming to Pelan refugees coming to Ethion.
