The Ruins of Leisewald
On the edges of a thorn tangled forest crumbling stone walls struggle to snake their way back to their origins. The walls spiral and creep to the center of the forest, slow and determined, disappearing occasionally in the thick undergrowth until finally tapering off and sinking into the soil at the centre. At the centre lie the ruins of an ancient tower, now crumbling and moss ridden. Vines grip every corner. Thorns choke every opening.
But beneath the debris hide hundreds of years' worth of secrets.
Purpose / Function
The history of the tower ruins is shrouded in myth, but it was once said to house an elite college of magic practitioners. Rumors of witchcraft have held fast; overtime the ruins became mere whispered bedtime stories.
Architecture
Past
The ruins were a four story rough limestone tower. Four low walls spiralled outward from the central tower to the edges of the Leisewald. These walls were used to divide working gardens, training areas, recreational yards and recreational gardens.
Beneath the four story tower was a labyrinthine complex for housing the staff, students and guests of the college. Although the tower had a plain facade, the subterranean rooms were opulent. Stylized marble archways and columns lined the halls. Gilded wall panels decorated the private residences. In contrast, the teaching wings were sparse and utilitarian.
Present
The grey limestone is worn with age and little remains of any few identifying features it once had.
