Geography

The moon of Nijin-Konai, this small celestial body is the second most inhabited in the Nijin-Laj star system and home to the biggest salt mining operations.   The moon, like the planet it orbits around, is characterized by the presence of liquid water and temperatures adeguate enough for life to evolve on.   Although the conditions may seem ideal for life to grow on the planet, the high concentrations of Ammonia in the atmosphere made it inhospitable, thus preventing it from originating.   Several big settlements have been enstablished around old salt mines during the last two centuries, giving rise to a proper human population on its surface. By creating domes with controlled atmospheres, humans managed to cultivate and farm its surface, growing trees in the alien soil and creating oasis of life in the otherwise desert planet.

Natural Resources

Famous for the Salt trade, the moon has been used for centuries to extract salt for human consumption given the extremely low amounts of Ions found free in the oceans of Nijin-Konai.   Depending on the purity of the salt, the prices may vary, giving rise to entire communities based around the extraction of this precious mineral to export off-planet.   Other minerals are extracted from the moon, although not as significant as salt for the local (and systemwide) economy.   Valued in the jewellery trade is the "Sea shard", a particularly resplendant blue quartz found in several sites on the moon.
