Reshtu

The Reshtu are a sentient species inhabiting the multiverse, infamous for their slave trade from which their government benefit from.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Characteristic head with eight nares on the beak; beak subrectangular on the rostrum, dentary subtriangular.
Rostrum has three major teeth, dentary has two.
Between the beak and the rest of the mouth there's a thin pseudomasseter of unknown usage.
Four eyes on the skull; two pointing anteriorly to the skull, the second pair pointing dorsally.
Three fleshy membranes originate from the beginning of the neck and go down its length; the two lateral crests detatch from the neck base almost immediately, creating two indipendant crests.
Forearms with fleshy growths on both sides of the wrists, terminating in a soft and thin layer of hair like structures.
Tridactyl hand with an opposable thumb rotated upwards.
Two dony crests project out of the spine,these are not rigid, letting the alien move freely.
Short stubby tail.
Long and muscular hindlimbs, terminating into a digitigrade foot with four fingers; Digit I to III are used for locomotion, Digit IV is vestigial and of no known use.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Mostly carnivorous species; they need animal meats from their homeworld specifically to survive, no other carbon based meat will do, not even if the proteins are virtually the same.

Major Organizations

Most infamous for their three major slaver families; these are responsible for most of the bad name the Reshtu have gotten in the last period of their history.
The ruling party, as well as most others, have no interest in regulating these activities as they profit from the slave trade; sources revealed the populace is divided on the subject.

Relationship Ideals

They seemed to be polyginous, with one male having several females for himself.
We don't know if this is a species wide behavior or if it is only in certain cultures.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

In the time humanity passed with the Reshtu there was never a chance to properly study their language, The research that was done on the matter along with the few linguists that learnt some of it were lost to the genocide in 2085.

Common Dress Code

The most humanity saw of their dresses were the uniforms used on the slave ships and some probably luxurious dresses the Father, First Daughter and First Son wore during their time on Earth.
The most luxurious outfits had arcs of strange materials extruding from the hips going back; materials and shapes that have since been attributed to the praecursors ruins and technologies. Most probably these materials are now used by the Reshtu as a simbol of one's wealth, given their rarity and difficulty to obtain.

History

Not much is known of their ancient history, seen as humans have passed most of their time with the Reshtus as cattle for their trade.
What is known is that they were born in a very arid region of their planet and struggled to survive in their native habitat.
It is also known, thanks to some Reshtu sources, that The Cure wasn't originally intended as a bioweapon, instead it was truly a medical instrument used to cure their people; only in a second time it was weaponized by the main slaver families.

Historical Figures

Kh'alum was certainly one of the most influental figures of their recent history; famous for her breakthrough in medicine, creating the first working prototype of Cure for her people.
Lulunei was the Father of the green family when they came down to Earth in 2083; he was in charge of the whole operation; he was slain when the humans rebelled; his skeleton is now exhibited in the Museum to the Reshtu Casualties on  North Sentinel Island on Earth.
Sakaruti was the first daughter of Lulunei and she was the family's most important executioner; she allegedly was the one who pressed the button to activate The Cure; She tried escaping during the rebellion; her shuttle was shot down by rebelling Reshtu forces outside the Glimmering fleet.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Mostly dependant on the species' technological level.
A planetbound species is seen more as wares to sell than intelligent species.
They have a complex network of sellers from all around the galaxy; collectors of rare specimens that will pay a fortune for a mating couple of one such species. Sold people could become pets, slaves or even work to please their owner in other, less conventional, ways.
