Telkatii
The Telkatii are a small subculture of mostly Human-Utarian people living modest lives that should, ideally, be closer to the L'lmanü lifestyle of the last cycle.
Telkatii people live modest lives in small settlements built along the coasts, hutning amphibians using catamarans and modern replicas of the tools used by the natives 32 Million Years ago.
They think that, by getting closer to the L'lmanü, they'll be able to live Taurian life to the fullest and in harmony with the planet itself.
Naming Traditions
Unisex names
Like most known L'lmanü naming traditions, the differentiation from feminine and masculine names seemed inexistant.
A name is usually given based on the parents occupation and a series of suffixes known from L'lmanü culture adapted first to Lithen and then to human languages, although the meaning of which is a mystery.
Some common names are:
- Hatkaptquinaku
- Faquatiikekeptequi
- Pfitkiquunaafe
- Kiqefktqueenaa
- PfiHatquiitpena
- Haalkiqemaruuk
Family names
While L'lmanü naming traditions remain mostly unknown, the Telkatii have based their own on what was known by Precursors on the subject.
Telkatii family names take from the brightness of the night bone eater microbe the day of birth, coupled with, yet again, a series of suffixes of unknown meaning.
Some Family names include:
- Athàskaquul
- Aplaktivaan
- Aiinunnpkeeri
- Aplanaantaquiten
Culture
Major language groups and dialects
Although most of them understand Yanashi to an extent, the various Telkatii tribes prefer to teach to the children to speak Telkatii instead, a language based on Yanashi but created from mixing in what is known of L'lmanü languages.
Only being founded recently, the movement still is in its early stages, not enough time for language to evolve.
Shared customary codes and values
Although Telkatii people enjoy the luxuries of modern medicine, they refuse any modern technologies, preferring to stay as close as possible to the planet's spiritual roots and choosing a more primitive lifestyle.
Telkatii tribes will always help each other out by code and will never war between them, as the L'lmanü never did either.
A tribe will send their teenage sons and daughters to travel to other tribes to learn from them.
Average technological level
Telkatii tribes live a lifestyle close to that of the natives, not going further than early Iron Age technology.
They will only write occasionally in cuneiform alphabets and pass information from generation to generation orally.
Common Dress code
Telkatii people use dried plants and treated animal hides to make clothing and plating; they'll occasionally work Iron to create light armour for heroic hunters to wear.
In everyday life, however, most Telkatii will move around naked, mostly due to the climate they live in.
Art & Architecture
Only strictly following known L'lmanü architecture and art, the Telkatii build round huts and communal homes with plenty of small windows along their circumference.
A hut's roof is often conical and made out of dried plant fiber.
Inside, the huts are decorated with rugs, primitive furniture and wall paintings.
Fishermen's huts are usually decorated with the skulls of the big predators hunted, carved on their armour the names of the ones who slayed it.
Common Customs, traditions and rituals
Every year, the teenage sons and daughters of every tribe are sent in a journey to neighboring tribes to bring them information, techniques and dances.
This cultural exchange is directly taken from L'lmanü culture and tradition and served as a way to keep contacts between tribes strong and to give away the youth to marry with other tribes.
Funerary and Memorial customs
The Telkatii will leave their dead in flower circles for Corpse sniffer to find and carry away to their nests, following L'lmanü tradition as shown in original art pieces found by the Precursors.
Common Myths and Legends
The Telkatii believe they are the reincarnation of the L'lmanü souls lost in the last megacycle's storm, finding only now their way to the colonists.
As such they claim to instinctively know the true nature of the L'lmanü and their customs, slowly letting the souls inside them peer through their body and into reality, where they'll rebuild L'lmanü civilization.
Ideals
Beauty Ideals
Telkatii people believe in beauty in natural forms, with body painting being regarded as one of the highest forms of art, usually painting natural motifs along their bodies to recall animals and plants, using exclusively dies produced from plants or other natural sources.
In women it is considered beautiful to have a shaved head or hair arranged in large braids.
Gender Ideals
Telkatii society is divided in pre conceived roles based on gender and species.
Utarians, both male and female, are considered the best hunters and fishers due to their ability to retrieve with both hands and feet at the same time.
Human males usually cover the roles of druids, skinners and taxidermists for the trophy skulls.
Human women cover textile jobs, building functions and painting.
Children are raised communally and knowledge is taught only verbally, with very sparse use of the written word only by scribes.
Relationship Ideals
The Telkatii are monogamous, only choosing one partner for life.
In Telkatii culture divorce is not conceived, however a couple can move huts if they don't go along anymore.

Very interesting culture. I like the detail that the couple can live in separate huts if they don't get along! :D
