Council of Glarn
The mayor is the leader of Glarn but he does not do all the chores of ruling Glarn for the people. The Council of Glarn is the people who support him to govern the large town. While they are elected, the mayor still selects who gains the higher offices. This is for the best possible rulership possible on the mayor's part. It is, however, interesting to hear about the abuse of these positions and how people can be so foolish to do senseless actions for the betterment of themselves before all...— Everam, Teller of Nimenra
Glarn is formally rules by an elected town council with the Mayor of Glarn as its leader and head. The council is a assembly of men, most often Humans, that are together with the mayor elected once every four years. The council's positions are filled by the mayor with the elected members, called Glarn Councilmen.
History
Glarn has had a mayor ever since the town has existed according to the records. While at first there was a governing-general, governor or The Treasullor himself that appointed the mayors of Glarn, the notion of letting the town elect their leader proved much more beneficial compared to when foreigners chose from their own or at random. This tradition of electing the mayor and soon after a council started as late as the beginning of the 1800s V.D.
There have been many mayors of Glarn with a variety of personalities and many who have faced the warfare that comes with being the mayor of Glarn. Since Glarn is the main objective in all campaigns done by Nekuram, the mayor is almost always in the sightline if the demons ever successfully take over the town. The death of the mayor in these cases has been not uncommon.
Organisation
The candidates are usually related to the guilds and receive funding for their campaigns with a main candidate for the mayor's office. Most of the time several candidates are from different factions in town and creating coalition governance is harder than most think. Valenden Tenbrens is most unusual in that sense since he his the current mayor but also a neutral candidate. He has successfully created a coalition of his neutral party and the Farmer's Guild of Glarn.
The Council is in charge of rulership over the town and its surroundings. Taxes and decisions are always decided by the majority among its fifteen members. Several officers as they are called have overtime been created to branch out the work for the mayor.
