Crystal Fox Pelt
It does not deteriorate, it can be used for many things and most importantly, it is a prestigious item worth its weight more than gold.— Everam, Teller of Nimenra
While hunting the Crystal Fox is a chore and most of all, dangerous, it can be well worth the hunt. The crystal fox pelt is valued beyond gold for its rarity since the crystal fox is a rare sight and few know how or can retrieve the pelt intact to be used. While the crystals are not brittle, they still need to be treated with care more than any ordinary pelts.
Uses
The pelts of crystal foxes have numerous amount of uses, mainly as a prestigious item. Many find the pelts beautiful as a whole piece, being kept as a necklet that shines its colours around. Others take the pelt to a skilled jeweller or tanner so that they are able to extract as many crystals from the pelt as they can without damaging them. Since the crystal pelt is so different from normal pelts there is usally both a tanner and jeweller working together to make the most out of the pelt. The process of doing this, however, is not common knowledge and most of the time attempts end in half-done jobs. The extraction of the crystals usually results in the use of 40 % of the pelt. When the crystals are removed from the pelt, they can be inserted into clothes or made into finer jewellery such as neckless, rings, earrings and bracelets.
