Nekurian Balefire Beacon

The fires that call for aid will one day burn to call all.
The Balefires of Narzuvim have changed and spreed across Narzuvim as Nekuram expanded eastward. The need for a way to communicate warnings over long distances led to the creation of the towers that carry the balefires. The building equally varies in shape and form depending on the area it has been built, but one thing is true: They stand ready to carry the message on to all of Nekuram.

Purpose

The need to carry warnings across the country has changed from the intimate threats of the past. When the balefires were closer there was no specifically built building. Many instead used high hills that could see the fires from afar and interpret the colours to warn about what dangers the people needed to prepare for. The expansion into the Tarus Plains established the first towers to be built to warn of Tatarus raiders and gather the people for any conflicts. Even since then the towers have been built and maintained, even if by the present time they are very varied in their state.

Construction

The first towers were built out of wood, the most commonly used material of its time but as the towers became a prime target to be destroyed or sabotaged, stone towers became more common. The most important point of the tower was that it would be able to see the fires directly to see their colours. This, and in later addition to the lesser amount of towers built, lead to taller towers. The top needed to be large enough to keep a big, stockwood fire with the addition of a platform for a spotter who would be looking for fires. More recent towers also included bed chambers, living quarters or just becoming the house for a family to live in, making it their life to also maintain the tower and the watch.
