The Blood Stones
I have heard of the Tatauru's violent past. When they were a savage kind that roamed across the Tarus Plains and Central Nekuram constantly searching for conflict, the remnant of such a past can be found... one of these they call The Blood Stones.— Everam, Teller of Nimenra
The past that formed Nekuram is one filled with strife and conflicts that have had to be handled by the leaders of those times. One such was the Tatarus and their violent ways. That past can be found at the stone circle and holy grounds called The Blood Stones, where the past echoes the remains of a much different time period. The eight bloodied stones stand crocked and tall on the plains and are today a gathering place for holy ceremonies and gatherings for Tataurus.
Ancient past
The Blood Stones are arranged in an oval circle in the Tarus Plains close to the river Afonhainn. They were raised by the Tatarus over 3000 years ago and are believed to be even older than that. The area has since been an important location for Tatarus where they at first gathered for blood sports and traditions where the involved tried to prove themselves for their own and other leaders. Other religious and traditional ceremonies took over after the Tatarus were pacified by Nekuram and today there are several occasions where celebrations occur.
However, there are still beliefs that some Tatarus gather to practise the old traditions at The Blood Stones during the nights when no one is around. No proof has ever been brought forward of this.
The Stones
There are eight large upright standing stones in the circle. Every stone is at least five meters tall with the tallest being eleven meters. The stones are not uniformly shaped. Each of the stones has carvings of traditional significance for the Taturen, some represent nature's thread of life. They all are painted with blood at the top of each stone. According to oral tradition, the blood belongs to shamans and leaders of different tribes at the time they were raised.
