Muskiet Moreas

Geography

Muskiet Moreas is the kind of place that inspires... tales. Located inland a hundred miles, and below sea level by three hundred feet, Muskiet seems to be the home of a large saltwater spring. That spring has turned an area of fifty square miles into the most inhospitable salt marsh known to man.

Fauna & Flora

The first thing the first researchers noticed was the bugs. Elcadaver, with it's tropical location, is already swarming with the biodiversity of the Amazon on a good day.   Muskiet is never having a good day.   Moths, butterflies, beetles, a hundred different species of each exists with in Muskiet Moreas. And they share the land with flies, spiders, scorpions, and most common of all, mosquitoes. And every one of these tiny demons is carrying a disease never before seen by human eyes. To go into Muskiet wearing anything but a full body suit for any length of time is a death sentence.   Of course, if you go deeper in the short grass, and find the tide pools, you'll be face to face with flesh eating fish. These miniature monsters have been known to strip the all the flesh from a full size waterpig in twenty minutes.

Natural Resources

So why does any fool trek into this fetid hellhole? Besides glory you mean, right? Crossing the Muskiet Moreas has been a heroic tradition since time immemorial. If you listen to a nickles worth of tales from the region, you'll hear the swamp mentioned a hundred times. The traditional mythology even lists it as a portal to the underworld.   But of course, you're the modern sort and don't buy into such silly notions. You'll still be going in after the crabs and pearls. Muskiet is home to mudcrabs, a delicacy across Elcadaver, and oysters which have an usually high rate of pearl production. More than one fortune has been made in the Moreas. And ten that many fortunes have been lost.   Ah, but you're above such base concerns as glory and cash. You've dedicated your life to The Almighty. What can this swamp offer you that The Almighty doesn't render superfluous? Well, how about direct access to Him? Muskiet Moreas isn't just a saltwater spring. Sulfuric bubbles suffuse the stagnant waters with The Almighty's Breath. It is considered the Most Holy Place by at least three sects of Almighty worship. Drinking the water has been known to induce the dream that signifies a warlock or a prophet.
