Umthombo Intaba
Purpose / Function
Elcadaver's most famous geyser is located in the Ukuphuma Basin of the Great Valley of Inkazimulo. For the last five hundred years, the geyser has sent roughly 2,688,000 gallons of boiling water skyward every day. On average, the spray shoots 120ft. in the air, and once reached as high as 150ft. As impressive as the geyser itself is, what truly sets it apart is the cone. Standing at 129.5ft. tall with a rough 172.3 diameter base, the gush of water can be seen almost anywhere in the basin.
Alterations
The cone at it's base that gives Umthombo Intaba it's name is growing. The current pace is roughly 3in. in height and a 4in. in diameter every year. The priests say that's it's River Goddess finally growing sick of her brothers, Mountain Twins, and showing them that she can grow a mountain faster than they can. Of course, there is the competing theory that it's a Mountain Triplet who is finally entering the competition. And a third theory has been proposed that this is the womb of the long prophesied End Times God, and when it reaches the fullness of it's growth, He shall burst forth and destroy Inkazimulo like Izquierda, before. Those that don't buy into ancient superstitions believe it has something to do with the minerals in the spray piling up, but they aren't getting close enough to test their theory.
History
First noted by Wandile Delani, the famous naturalist, in 1683 A.D. during his study of wildlife in the Basin. His son, Mfanafuthi S'Bu, was the first to measure it's growth and develop the theory of minerals in the waters. He also posited the theory that it could be River Goddess, if only to suppress a backlash at the time.
