Borais
Born from botches resurrection magic or environmental dark energy, Borais are a haunting sight to behold, their once lively bodies now reduced to fragile, ghostly versions of their former selves. Their skin is deathly pale, and dark veins of negative energy course through their bodies, giving them an eerie appearance. Despite their undead state, borais still retain their souls, which is evident in their glowing eyes that seem to hold a depth of emotion beyond what their bodies can express.
Their movements are slow and deliberate, and they speak in hushed tones that seem to carry an otherworldly quality. They are dead and no longer require food, water, and rest.
Borais often find themselves on the fringes of society, ostracized by the living for their undead nature, but also not fully accepted by the true undead who see them as an aberration. Some borais embrace their otherness, using their haunting appearance to work as enforcers or bodyguards, while others strive to overcome the stigma against the undead by holding diplomatic positions or interacting with the public.
Despite their best efforts, however, many borais find themselves forced to hide their appearances with cosmetics and full-body clothing in order to blend in with members of their original races, living a life of constant fear and mistrust. Despite their struggles, borais remain a resilient and determined people, driven to find their place in a world that often seems to reject them at every turn.
