Haan

The Haan are an arthropodan species that soar through the skies using their deftly woven silken webbing. They use buoyant gases expelled from tubes in their shells to inflate their balloons and ride the winds of their homeworld with precision and speed. Haans have evolved the ability to create biological flamethrowers to ignite their prey and catch them before they fall into the planet's depths. They are highly intelligent but have a traditional society that forbids the use of complex tools. Haan pilots who leave their kin to travel the stars are considered dead by their families, leading many to seek belonging in crime families, corporations, military organizations, or adventuring groups.   The average Haan is 8 feet long and 180 pounds with a pinkish-purple chitin, barbed limbs, and spiky pedipalps. Their shells have beautiful, mottled colors, but their vanity is focused on the large, hairlike spikes extending from the tips of their abdomen. They often decorate and style their spikes with care, seeking unique and identifiable looks.
