Oni
Oni are a unique and enigmatic race of beings, shrouded in mystery and steeped in legend. According to their own folklore, they were once humans, who, after failing to be reincarnated in the new world, were transformed into Oni - spirits given physical form. Their new bodies are tall and muscular, with pointed ears and sharp teeth, covered in a thick layer of fur that ranges in color from deep red to midnight black. Their eyes glow with an inner fire, and their horns curve menacingly from their foreheads.
Oni are known throughout the galaxy as skilled and fearsome pirates, preying on cargo ships and traders with their superior speed and maneuverability. They operate in small crews, led by a captain who is often a powerful shaman with the ability to summon elemental spirits to do their bidding. Oni pirates are notorious for their ruthlessness and brutality, but they are also fiercely loyal to their own kind, and will go to great lengths to protect their crewmates and their ship.
Despite their fearsome reputation, little is known about the origins of the Oni. Some speculate that they may be related to the Yokai, another race of spirit-beings that inhabit the galaxy, while others believe that they may have been created by some ancient and powerful force. The Oni themselves are tight-lipped about their origins, preferring to keep their past shrouded in mystery.
In recent years, the Oni have become more active in the galaxy, as tensions between the Pact System and the Veskarium have escalated. Some have even formed uneasy alliances with certain Veskarium factions, hoping to gain an advantage over their enemies. But most Oni remain fiercely independent, roaming the stars in their own ships, always ready for the next big score.
