Niophus, one of the larger planets in the Universe, named after the first god to settle it. To understand it fully, we need to understand its 3 core pillars: The Universe, The Planet and The Magic The Universe Every planet in the Universe is a dormant source of power. When a strong enough god finds a planet, he can use his own power to reignite the Planet’s Hearth. Once that happens the planet will create life, shaped by the god’s nature. This life will generate new power via its soul and part of it will go directly to the god benefactor, allowing said god to survive longer in the void. The bigger the planet, the greater the power source. When Niophus the Wise found the planet and named it after himself, he allowed many minor gods to settle on it as well, with the deal to share the planet’s power with them, if they help him to protect it from other major gods. While minor gods can inhabit the planet in a physical form, major gods like Niophus the Wise are too powerful for a physical form. Instead they surround the planet with their energy, acting as a protective barrier from outside influences. The Planet The planet Niophus consist of many continents of different sizes. Thanks to the many minor gods that were allowed to settle on the planet, the continents have a rich variety of creatures and cultures inhabiting them, even if the god dies, the Planet’s Hearth will keep information on the god’s nature and will continue to create life from it, until all traces of a god are exterminated from it. Even if they help Niophus the Wise to protect the planet from outside gods, the already settled minor gods still have conflicts between each other and the races often continue the conflicts even after their parent god dies. The Magic The Magic on Niophus is as numerous as its races, but all of it follows the same mechanics. The power inside the Planet’s Hearth is neutral raw energy. Once it is shaped by the god’s nature it gains properties influenced by said nature. Some can empower the body, other can control the elements or reshape the energy in artificial creatures, “summoning” them. This reshaped energy is called magic by the races. A magician can control magic power as strong as he himself is, it doesn’t depend on the god’s power. While a given race will have a natural ability with the magic of its parent god, it can still learn to control the magic of other gods. In Short The planet Niophus allows for a degree of freedom when building stories, with a rich variety of races and minor gods inhabiting it, thanks to its large size.
