Hammer of the Flame

By the holy fire of Indovir I solemnly swear to uphold the good in the world. By thine divine light evil shall burn. I shall keep my heart true and stand up for those in need. I shall leave no slave in chains, I shall turn away from tainted magic. I shall become the hammer of Archon and strike true.
— Archonic Prayer
After his death, the Hammer of the Flame, Archon's weapon, became the symbol of his followers. During his life Archon fought many Avaronians with this weapon said to have been enhanced by Divine Magic.   As its blue flame was visible from far away in the battlefield it became a symbol of the fight against the Avaronians during those early wars. Eventually it became heavily referenced in prayers and prop hammers started to even be used in ceremonies.

Function

Holy Weapon

How Archon procured the weapon is unknown. Some claim that the god Indovir gave it to him while others say that he created it himself after a vision of his god. Nonetheless it already started to be mentioned in the early stories of Archon. As it was only used in battle when Archon was alive, the only sources describing its power are from that time.   The blue flames were of course the most defying characteristic. From the account we know that these flames engulfed enemies on impact causing them to collapse shortly after. It is said that those that were engulfed would see visions of Indovir who cursed them causing their death in the process.   But the weapons also acted as a sort of focus for Archon in using Divine Magic. Many stories tell of how Archon lifted the hammer up high as flames started forming a vortex above it. The flames would then become golden in colour and descend upon the wounded who would almost instantly be healed.

Partially made from Asmerian Metal but also uses other more traditional materials such as iron and leather for the handle.

Location

Currently the Hammer of the Flame resides in the Imperial Palace of the Pavan Empire where it is stored until it is needed for ceremonies.

Symbol

Ever since Archon's death the Hammer of the Flame has become a symbol of the Archonic faith. It can be found on many banners and religious art but has also taken up a more material importance as well. Many of the Archonic Order soldiers are known to use large warmhammers and even priests use much lighter prop hammers in their ceremonies.

Emperors

Normally the Hammer of the Flame is stored in a vault deep within the Imperial Palace of the Pavan Empire. It is only ever taken out for one occasion, the coronation of a new emperor.   During the ceremony the high priest of the faith forth the Hammer to the new emperor. The emperor than holds the hammer high above its head producing a large vortex of golden flames after which he strikes the hammer down on a Fall crystal place on an anvil. The resulting release of magical energy is said to invigorate the new emperor for a long reign.

I like that it is still around and used in ceremonies today. Hopefully no one will steal it.
