A wandering trader and a dream.
300 years after the destruction of Old Ileth, a wandering trader by the name of Gaius discovered the ruins of an Old Ilethian metropolis entirely by accident. The riches he plundered from those ruins would make him rich beyond comparison over the next 20 years. In the center of the city was an elegant, jewel-encrusted golden throne that still stood centuries after the destruction of the old empire. The gems were set so firmly into metal that Gaius couldn't remove any of them, and so decided to leave it, confident that it would still be there if he decided to come back. Kings, Queens, and Monarchs of Vindomora are still ceremonially crowned on this golden throne to this day, and it is such an important part of Vindomoran culture that they named their capital city after the Throne of Gold.
