Saturalia - 25h Evening Star
Once an obscure Ayleid holiday in the name of the Daedric Prince Sanguine, where human slaves were treated like royalty for a day and debauchery reigned, Saturalia was re-popularized by the Bretons in the Second Era. It coincides with the old Breton solstice festival, and involves decorated trees, bright lights, and gift-giving. On this day, the winter seems at its harshest, and willpower at its lowest. Mortals may be gripped by despair. Beware the snow, as chains may be found buried within, which will pull an unwary victim into Bal's clutches. Vampires are especially powerful on this night, but are also bound by a curse put on them by Sanguine in ancient times, preventing them from entering or affecting any home without first being invited in on this night only. The power of Bal is much weaker than most realize. This is why Saturalia is so cherished. The warmth of the fire, the beauty of the lights, the treasure of friends and families, hold back the darkness of Bal more effectively than any ward or blessing.
