Ra'athim Clan
A prominent Dunmeri clan that has ruled the city of Ebonheart since its founding as a mining town in the Merethic Era. In the late Second Era, the Ra'athim gained control of the throne of Morrowind. Although this rulership was short-lived as the province fell into the hands of Tiber Septim's Empire. The royal family survived in exile during the early years of Septim Rule before the lost princess Barenziah was returned to the throne.
As head of the clan, Barenziah brought her clan into the fold of House Hlaalu, ending its millenia-old independence from the Great Houses of Morrowind, and Ebonheart's long-held status as an independent city-state within the province.
King Hlaalu Casik Ra'athim, ruler of Ebonheart throughout the Third Era, famously lost a bet with his sister, the Empress Katariah Septim, surrendering their ancestral land on a peninsula in Vvardenfell. The Empress had Castle Ebonheart built to serve as the Imperial capital of the island. With two settlements of the same name in such close proximity, the ancestral city came to be known as "Old Ebonheart".
