Corellon and the Seldarine Elves
Elves are constantly in a state of reincarnation. Between their periods of rebirth into the material plane they spend parts of their lives in Arvandor with the Seldarine elves, the lesser gods who spend their entire lives their with Corellon.
Arvandor is a plane of the fey world, consisting of magnificent forests, luscious fields, beautiful lakes, streams and rivers and cascading snow-capped mountains.
It is home to Mount Olympus where some human deities live, such as Zeus, Apollo, other Greek gods etc... The very top of the mountain in a portal system run by Hermes who helps lost travelers find their way home.
Corellon resides in Crescent Grove in a beautiful white marble tower that seamlessly blends into the nature and gardens around it. The tower reached high into the sky and is considered one of the most desired places to spend time in to observe the beauty of Arvandor and to meditate in silence. Inside his throne room the ceiling is illuminated with a beautiful magical illusion of a night sky bursting with galaxies, stars and moons. He has a giant beechwood throne that flowers over his head and the floor is marble with beautiful opal pillars with flowering vines that wrap around them. Corellon's grove contains a garden with some of the most precious and rare fruits and vegetables.
When an elf is reincarnated into the material plane they meditate instead of sleeping. During these meditations, until they are about a hundred or so they relive moments from their past lives and their moments in the paradise fey world of Arvandor. After they turn one-hundred or so they stop experiencing these memories and only relive moments from their current life, in order that they might feel more contentment in their current state of being.
At some point in their lives, some elves might experience thiramin. Thiramin happens when two elves meet each other and know that their souls are intertwined and they are destined to spend their lives full-filling a purpose together. More often than not, these couples tend to marry and fall in love with each other and in a few rare cases one might experience thiramin with more than one elf at a time. Thiramin can end and will end when the elves' paths in life diverge from one another. The couple feels resolute in the breakup because they know it is a sign from Corellon that the relationship is no longer serving their life. The breakup is still painful though and normally one of the elves will leave the presence of the other to find their new calling.
Most half-elves are not souls in the usual elvish cycle of reincarnation. They are more human in that sense, often times giving them an isolated experience from their elven families. Some who worship Corellon and the Seldarine may gain favor from their elvish deities and be granted a home in Arvandor when they die and might be granted passage into the reincarnation cycle to become a full elf.
When an elf resides in Arvandor they can be there for centuries at a time. The often inhabit one of the small elvish communities who have built their homes around the natural world around them, such as in the forests, often living in magical hollow trees surrounded by gardens. Some take to adventuring through the winds or embracing their fey nature by allowing their form to alter to become an animal or to fly on the wind as an elemental spirit. They often form strong bonds with other elves in their communities while in Arvandor. Their emotions in this fey realm are often heightened, meaning they will still fall madly in love with others or even develop strong anger or hate towards other elves they come across. Often these feeling arise because they had a connection with this soul in one of their past lives on the material plane.
Every elf has a true name given to them by Corellon himself. These names are only used in Arvandor or by the deity himself, but never as their common names on the material plane. If an elf on the material plane hears their true name they could experience a variety of emotions, including a deep painful longing for their home, making their life on the material plane seem frustrating and dull or it could be taken as a great sign from Corellon to allow them to see the world around them in a clearer light.
