Fendir and Kastella arrive in Phandalin.
Fendir gasped for breath. Traveling through the portal had left him winded even though it was almost instantaneous. He was lying in a field and he looked over and saw Kastella next to him, still clutching his hand. The sun was starting to set over a town they were on the outside of. There was also a beautiful green forest and a mountain ridge surrounding them. Fendir sighed with relief knowing they weren't in some layer of hell or the abyss. Kastella looked over at him and smiled softly for a quick moment before ripping her hand out of his own and looking away. Fendir rolled his eyes at her behavior. "It's hot out here." Fendir said not used to being somewhere that wasn't constantly covered in a foot of snow. "Yeah, I'm just glad my brother didn't kill us." Kastella said as she got to her feet. She looked at the stone Niko had given her. "Don't lose that." Fendir said cautiously, before also getting to his feet. "Obviously." Kastella said rolling her eyes. Fendir realized she looked tired. "We should find somewhere for you to get some rest." Kastella sighed, "Let's see what this town is about." She put the rock away safely in her backpack and started walking toward the town. Fendir shrugged and skipped along behind her. "Stop that." She said as Fendir started to skip past her. He stopped and turned back toward her and looked at her annoyed. "You look like an idiot!" She teased him. He rolled his eyes and walked beside her into the town. "Phandalin." Kastella read as the entered the town. "Phallicland?" Fendir asked. "Nope. That is not what I said." Kastella rolled her eyes at Fendir's crudeness. "I'm calling it Phallicland." He said decidedly. Kastella just rolled her eyes and tried to ignore him. The town was pretty quiet with a few humans running around. Fendir noticed a bulletin board and went to look at it. There were some jobs listed for able bodied adventurers and he excitedly took a couple and showed Kastella. "Delivering some messages. Exciting stuff." She said sarcastically. "Well at least it's something. Looks like there's a dragon around. Maybe we could go teach it a lesson." Fendir suggested. Kastella sighed, "Will start with the messages." She said walking toward an inn. They entered to see mostly humans in the bar. A few of them gave Kastella weird looks and Fendir instinctively moved closer to her protectively. They greeted the bar tender and asked how much rooms and meals were. The bar tender told them his rates and Kastella went ahead and paid for a couple rooms for the night, much to Fendir's annoyance. "You know, it'd be cheaper if we shared a room. I don't exactly need the bed, unless you want to knock the headboard around a little." He suggested, trying to flirt with her. She shrugged, "I don't really need you for that though. Do I?" She said cheekily before turning to go down the hall to the rooms. "Goodnight Fen." She said going into one of the rooms and closing the door behind her, not waiting for him to respond. Fendir pouted and went into his room to rest for the night. He jumped up on the bed and considered everything that had just happened. He felt a little guilty for leaving but he was also excited to be somewhere new with Kastella all to himself. He wished she wasn't so stubborn or weird about sex. She always made him feel guilty about things and Fendir found this frustrating. He thought about her beautiful, curvy body and couldn't help himself from thinking about her as he toyed with himself to pass the time. When he finished he decided to meditate until morning. He woke from his meditation around seven and decided to see if Kastella was awake yet. He got dressed and walked over to her door and knocked. He heard her grunt from behind the door and after a few moments she opened the door and looked at him annoyed. "Good morning!" He said, excited to finally do something exciting. She rolled her eyes and closed the door without responding to him. Fendir waited for a few moments before worrying that she had gone back to bed. Just as he was starting to lose hope the door opened and she was dressed and ready. "Morning. God I hate elves. You should learn to meditate for longer." She said annoyed. "I didn't need to though. Besides, I'm excited to explore this new land! I was thinking we'll go check on this woman in a mill south of here. She needs to return to town before the dragon attacks her." Fendir said reading from the flyer he had taken. "Sounds good." Kastella said as they exited the inn. "We walking?" She asked. Fendir smiled, "Why not? It's a lovely day." He said trotting toward the southern entrance of the town. Kastella grumpily followed him. After a couple hours they finally saw the mill. They also saw a manticore attacking something in the window and they heard a woman screaming. Fendir drew his bow and ran forward as he notched an arrow. He fired and hit the manticore in it's hindquarters. The beast roared it ugly face at them and Kastella drew her hand axes and chunked them at the beast. One missed but the other sliced his wing before falling to the ground. Fendir fired a couple more arrows at the monster before it finally flew away angrily. They saw the woman in the window and they walked up toward the mill. Fendir helped her tend to her wounds and they delivered their message about the dragon. The woman thanked them and they headed back to the town to rest for the night. The bar tender greeted them as they came in and Fendir sat at the bar and ordered some food and drinks for them. Kastella sat down and they chatted with the bar tender for a bit who asked if they needed rooms again. Kastella slid him another gold coin for two rooms and Fendir rolled his eyes. "Well, I'm going to sleep. Don't wake me up too early tomorrow." She begged Fendir. Fendir was annoyed with her though and rolled his eyes. "You'll get what you get." She huffed and walked off toward the rooms, "Night." "Night." Fendir said back. This trip was going poorly. He had only managed to piss off Kastella and all they had done so far was frighten away a stupid manticore. He looked around the bar disappointed to only see a bunch of older men, none of which seemed interested in a night with a young, sprightly male elf. After another drink Fendir went to his room. He sighed at his empty bed and started missing Sasha. He hoped tomorrow would be better.
