Life, Identity
Kastella and Fendir decide to go on an adventure.
Fendir was jolted from his meditations to a banging at his door. Not a knock. Someone was trying to open his door forcefully. He picked up his shortswords and walked cautiously to the door. "Who's there?!" He asked, on edge. "It's me dumbass! Let me in!" Kastella whispered through the door. Fendir rolled his eyes and opened the door a crack but Kastella shoved herself though the door and closed it behind her, much to Fendir's annoyance. "The hell are you doing here you cunt!" He said to her angry about earlier that night. Kastella looked distracted, "Oh shut up about that! You deserved it!" "You witch! I didn't tell Sasha to flirt with Farticus okay!" Fendir spat angrily at Kastella who had her ear pressed to the door. "The hell are you doing?!" Fendir demanded again. "Okay, I don't think he followed me." She said. "Who?! Why are you here?" Fendir asked, becoming less angry and more confused. Kastella looked at him then looked down and around the room without answering. "Oh okay, fine, but we play by my rules, and yes, I do want you to put your tail up my butt, that will be a requirement because I'm quite curious." She looked at him in disbelief and wacked him over the head. "OW! Will you please tell me what the hell is going on then?" She walked over to his bed mat and sat down. "I'm getting very mixed signals. Fine, no butt stuff this time but I'm sure you'll be back for another round so maybe you'll be open to it then." He said coming over to sit down next to her. She had her head in her hands and wasn't really listening to Fendir. He found this annoying. He moved in to try and kiss her and she slapped him away, "Will you stop?!" "Well you just barged in here and won't tell me what's going on!" He said. She sighed heavily and whispered to Fendir, "I...I...Gifartus...proposed?!" Fendir was very confused, "You barely know him, what the hell are you taking about?" "Well, he didn't exactly propose but he basically asked me to come to Lyrian with him and to court him for a while and then get married and he listed off a bunch of reasons why it made sense politically and I guess my dad and his dad had essentially arranged it and I...I don't know Fen." She looked up at him and her icy blue eyes were full of fear and confusion. "I don't want this!" She said panicked, "I want to go. With you...into this dimension thing. Let's go. Tonight." Fendir looked at her in shock for a few moments. He knew that this was crazy and that she was probably just freaking out and projecting a bit onto the entire situation. He also really loved the idea of running off into a whole other world with Kastella and escaping their mundane relationship problems here, even if it meant dangerous and exciting adventures that may or may not include dragons and traveling across distant lands and seas and trying new and exotic foods and drinks and possibly falling in love together and making love in the wilderness. Fendir decided he could let himself be selfish for a bit. Besides, they could always come right back home if it didn't work out. "Okay, let's find Niko." He said. "He should be up in his tower room." Kastella said. Fendir nodded and stood up. He reached his hand down to help Kastella up who hesitated for a brief moment before taking it. "I should grab some of my things." She said. Fendir nodded, "I'll pack too and then meet you up there." She nodded and hugged him tightly and kind of awkwardly before turning away and running out of his room. Fendir packed his things quickly and grabbed his weapons. He slowly opened the door and sighed with relief not seeing anyone around. He headed up toward the ballroom where he heard some quiet voices talking. He started to turn around to take the other stairs when he recognized his parent's voices. Fenneck sounded distressed, "I know Nat, but he is just a boy. He made a fool of us tonight and I don't care whose fault it was. Frankly they're all to blame." "Fen he needs to get out of here. Let him go to the temple with Sasha. Tarin will take care of him." "Tarin can barely take care himself, let alone our son!" Fenneck exclaimed, "He's a child, Nat! He's an elf. He's not supposed to be growing up yet." "All of his friends are. He's hurt, Fenneck." "I know, and he needs to learn to deal with it. You know it's not as simple as it seems. You know how many people we've outlived. He will outlive Kastella and Sasha and he needs to be able to process that. Telling him to grow up sooner will only make that worse." Fendir jumped as he felt Kastella's hand gently touch his shoulder. She looked at him sadly and Fendir realized she'd been listening. They slowly backed down the grand staircase and went over to the other entrance into the tower. They finally made it to Niko's room and Kastella knocked on the door. After a few moments a very sleepy and slightly intoxicated Niko came to the door and looked at them confused. Kastella pushed herself into the room past her brother and Fendir shrugged at the alarmed Niko and followed her in. "We want to go to that demented thing." Kastella said. "She means dimension, please don't send us to a demented thing." Fendir explained. Niko stared at them, still confused. "Now, Niko!" Kastella said. "Wha-what are you talking about? Why are you here?" He asked them. "We want to travel to another dimension and go on an adventure, far away from here." Kastella said. Fendir nodded, "Yeah we um, well we...we need to go. Now." Niko looked at Kastella concerned, "Do our dads know about this?" "Absolutely not and they aren't going to." She gave him a death glare and Fendir saw her hand rest threateningly on the hilt of her rapier. "Okay okay!" Niko put his hands up and walked over to his desk. He rummaged around a bit and brought out what looked to be a stone of some sort. He handed it to Kastella. "Whatever happens. Do. Not. Lose. This. This is how you get home. Okay? I can open the portal to get you there but the only way you can get back is with that." He looked at Fendir, "You're better with magic so I'll tell you. When you want to come home you both need to be touching the stone and then you summon magic into the stone like you would for an attuned item okay?" Niko said pressing the importance of the stone. Fendir nodded, "Got it. We won't lose it. Don't worry. It's just a quick trip." Niko nodded cautiously, "Don't die. For the love of the gods, please don't die. If you die there, you're essentially dead here too so let's just avoid that altogether okay?" "Duh!" Kastella said, rolling her eyes impatiently. "What am I supposed to tell our dads?! Or your parents?! They will actually kill me if they find out I helped you do this behind their backs." Niko asked them desperately. Fendir pursed his lips in thought. Kastella spoke first, "Tell them we ran away. To...get married. At the shrine of Corellon Larethian." Fendir looked over at Kastella's suggestion in confusion. "Oh yes, because us running off into Lenisily is somehow better than the actual truth." She looked at him confidently, "It is. Because there is no way in hell they'd follow us there." "My mom will try!" Fendir said exasperated. "Yeah, but your dad won't let her." Fendir thought about it and realized Kastella might have a point. The eloping thing still confused him but he decided to ask about that when they weren't in front of her brother. Niko sighed defeatedly, "Okay, please Stel, be careful. Fen, if you let anything happen to her I'll kill you myself okay?" Niko said, looking decidedly unthreatening in his inebriated state. "Yeah, yeah of course." Fendir said. Niko held out his hands and started chanting some weird spell and a golden portal opened up before him. "Hold hands and jump in together okay?!" Niko shouted over the noise. Kastella took Fendir's hand and looked into his eyes, "Ready?" She asked. Fendir took a deep breath and nodded and they jumped into the portal.
