Azuni Forest
Geography
Azuni Forest's surface is an expanse of deciduous trees and bamboo that lies directly south of the Arode Desert. The foliage of the forest isn't extremely thick, allowing for relatively easy traversal of the terrain. Occasional streams can be found running through the woods, usually 5 to 8 feet in width. Despite the extreme darkness that shrouds the forest, the region appears relatively mundane. However, if one were to follow the various streams, it should be noted that they all converge into one point...
Underground
The Azuni Forest Underground can be accessed by a whirlpool that lays at the intersection point of every river in the region. Traveling through this lake's vortex will land one in a system of caves that lies just beneath the surface, somehow completely disturbed by the Shattering. Within the caves lie several ruins reminiscent of those found in the Irite Jungle, suggesting some connection between the ancient peoples that inhabited the Revien Continent.Localized Phenomena
Azuni Forest's famed feature is the blinding cloud of darkness that enshrouds the woods. This intense shade has no explanation, though it is thought to be related to the curse that Arode Desert suffered milennia ago. Thanks to the darkness, navigation of the forest is possible only by following paths or rivers.
Climate
The forest is always cool, in stark contrast to the neighboring desert. Likely due to the wells of Water energy that lie around the region, rainfall is common during cooler seasons.
Fauna & Flora
The main population of flora in the forest is comprised of by oak trees and bamboo. Thanks to bamboo's aggressive properties, not much space is left for other plants, though ferns and bushes are still present in between the trees. Underground, a curious kind of moss is found, one that is incredibly absorbent of water. In addition, fruit-bearing vines manage to grow in the caves.
History
Entering the Azuni Forest has always been a widely regarded poor decision. However, when Arode Desert became endangered by its calcified threat, the woods became something of a safe haven, both from the overbearing heat, and from the skeletons. Many who fled into the forest struggled due to the intense darkness and were forced to reenter the desert, but others successfully made it to the Irite Jungle, and became that regions's population of draconians.
