Meriun Spires
Once merely a lake containing a few solitary stone islands, the Meriun Spires were drastically altered by the Shattering's effects. Having become one of the famous Tidal Chasms, and also featuring massive, levitating stone spires around, this spirit-concentrated region holds many wondrous sights.
Geography
The lake that once was the entirety of the Meriun region has deepened with an influx of Water magic, turning it into a Tidal Chasm an estimated 3,000 feet deep. The "lake" itself stands with a surface area the size of a large island. The spires that the region is now named for are towering stone structures that either protrude directly from the water or float several stories above it, harboring all sorts of bioluminescent plant life.
Climate
Meriun is nearly in a constant state of winter, its temperature barely varying from an average of 40 degrees year-round. Despite the cold temperatures, it rarely ever snows, the only precipitation ever being rain.
Fauna & Flora
One of Meriun's crowning features is the sheer amount of flowered vines and branches that deck the spires. These blossoms are aptly named spirit lilies, flowers that glow a vibrant cyan and harbor raw spirit energy. The flowers cover the stone spires in any way imaginable, growing out of cracks, wrapped around and hanging off of vines, or simply occupying flat space.
As for fauna, the spires have two notable instances: glass fish and the moths. The glass fish are exactly as they are named, being transparent sea life that swim under the surface of the lake. Despite being literally made from glass, reverting to crystal if they are "killed", they function as any normal aquatic life would. Most take the form of koi, serpents, or fish akin to bettas, but other variants such as squid can be found. Legend has it that lost spirits gather in the spires and take corporeal form as these fish.
The moths of the region would be regular insects, were it not for their extreme compatibility with Spirit magic. Having fed on and lived near such a large amount of spirit lilies, these moths have gained the ability to "phase" between states of soul and body, using this magic to evade predators or travel. The silk that these moths create is incredibly sought-after, being both useful and hard to obtain.

Natural Resources
The resources of the spires are mainly obtained from the life around the area. As mentioned before, heavily enchanted silk can be obtained from the moths, but is very difficult to harvest. The spirit lilies themselves are valuable, though they can also be used to create general flower products such as dyes or nectar. No fish can actually be harvested from the region, as fishing will almost always yield glass from the aquatic "life". However, like the silk of the moths, this glass does contain spirit magic to be utilized.
