Basic Information

Anatomy

Wookiees are a tall species of furry humanoids who can grow to a height of nearly three meters. They are covered from head to toe in a thick, shaggy coat of hair with water-shedding properties. The species had two sexes, female and male. The latter grew long beards in adult life.

Genetics and Reproduction

Wookiees reproduce sexually and are viviparous, they typically have a gestation period of 9 months.

Growth Rate & Stages

Wookiees from infancy take 4 years to reach childhood and from there it takes 14 years to reach adulthood, at the age of 18 a Wookiee is considered a young adult. A Wookiee who reaches the age of 30 is considered an adult and at the age of 60 they are considered to be elderly.

Wookiees live in jungles and forest.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Wookiees are big eaters, with the average adult requiring 3,500-6,000 calories a day of food.Their diet consist of wild plants, berries, meat, and spices. They preferr their spices to be hot.

Biological Cycle

As time progresses Wookiees age and grow until eventually their body reaches a point that they can no longer sustain themselves and die.

Behaviour

Wookiees are regarded as intelligent, sophisticated, loyal and trusting. When angered, Wookiees are known to descend into a berserker rage.

Social Structure

The name for their species is known to translate from Shyriiwook into Human language literally as "the People of the Trees". Living in a great harmony with the nature of , the Wookiees placed great value upon the trees of their homelands. They consider the mighty trees the true owners of the land, themselves merely coexisting with them, and will consult them before every battle by bowing their heads against their wood to listen to their wisdom. In Wookiee society, loyalty and courage are valued as sacrosanct tenets. It is typical for Wookiees to value honor and friendship above all else.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

Life Debt: The Wookie Honor Code requires them to pledge a life debt to anyone they feel has ‘saved their life’. When this happens, they gain the Death Wish and Rage Hindrances regarding the character(s) and rarely leave their side. If separated more than 24 hours, they gain the Major Habit Hindrance until reunited. Anytime the subject of the life debt is in danger, the Wookiee is automatically Shaken per the Rage (Major) Hindrance and may not attempt to end his Rage until the character(s) is no longer in danger.
When male Wookiees turned 12 years old, they will undergo initiation rituals to enter adulthood.
