The Moxh-Larath Institute, also simply known as 'The Institute', is based in the city of Melenthara. It is the only place of magical study within Xhen-dra and acts as a funnel to create dedicated scholars and assassins that the nation can use to its advantage.

History

Founding

In the 4th century after The Shatter, the people of Xhen-dra found temselves without any opportunties to learn magical works greater than that of cheap tricks and conjurations. Kyrok Granvor, The Proctor declared that an institute should open to allow people to learn magic from those who were powerful sorcerers and magic users within the region.   The Institute was built and opened formally in 368 AR with a small campus in the southern region of Xhen-dra. This was also declared by The Proctor to be a new settlement that would allow for students to be fully engaged within the life of their schooling. The new academic city of Melenthara was declared for the now mandated schooling.

Dark Devotion

In the early 450s AR, the school was invaded by the darkness that poured in from the Xhen-dran people. The school's teachers were selected by The Proctor to ensure that while the students were learning magic, their minds would remain loyal to the machinations of Xhen-dra and The Proctor's plan for the world.   One of these teachers known as Televon Gnorrleaf was a young wood elf who was dedicated so intently to the cause of The Proctor that they shared details of a small selection of students and staff that were enacting the ritual of Dark Devotion, allowing them individual and greater access to demonic powers. The Proctor quashed this rebellion with great joy, choosing to focus the school on a more intentional dedication to the cause of Xhen-dra.

Temple of Death

In 510 AR, scandal rocked the institute as a collective of disturbed students started to commit a set of grizzly murders. Over the course of their attacks, the "Temple of Death" as they named themselves, were able to kill more than fourty students. The most active part of their attacks saw ten students killed within the span of a couple weeks. As a result, there was an intense investigation that revealed the identities of these students. Once caught it was revealed that the murdered students were brought back to life as undead creatures that the group were using to further their worship of The Whisper Wraith. Common trust within the instute was bolstered upon learning that the "Temple of Death" as a Viluran Republican plot to overthrow The Proctor.

Murder and Strife

Murder and Strife are the names of two students who currently attend the Institute, initially as students, now as enforcers and professors. They are a pair of elven twins who have become reknown for their intentional and immense display of aggression towards other students and those that they deem require "additional punishment".   Many labelled them as bullies when students, however it was when they became professors that their agression became much stronger. The two started to violently lash out at students, aiming violent physical and mental damage onto students. If the torture is too immense that a student dies, Murder has been known to bring back students from beyond the veil back to their bodies to punish them for being so weak and dying.

Eesh, teachers that kill and resurrect students are effed up in the head. Not the kind of school I'd do well at.

I think I'll give applying to this school a miss. It's history (and present) are rather dark! :O
