Skulker

Skulkers are vehicles of various sizes utilized by the Skulker Bands and other travellers in the Slycol Desert.

Description

Skulkers were inventions of the people within the Slycol Desert as a means to deflect the arcane storms and large creatures that arise within the desert. However as time has gone on groups known as Skulker Bands have taken the vehicle and pushed it further. The new types of Skulkers have allowed for the creation of unique and different designs.   Yet societally, Skulkers have been seen as a negative element particularly due to its connection with Skulker Bands. Often these groups have been seen as bandits and thieves. As such, the Skulker is seen as enabling these groups to attack the people of the world, which has resulted in a distain for the machines, even if they are used by a good or normal person.

Construction

Most Skulkers are constructed of random metal scraps that are found in the Slycol Desert. However, the core engine is formed of Volarstone infused with strange enchantments. This core engine takes a skilled engineer to create without the risk of explosion, there have been many such incidents in the bases of Skulker Bands.   There are three engineers who create Skulkers and their engines outside of a specific Skulker Band. These three engineers are considered protected by many of the different bands as they are a resource to be protected rather than hoarded. In an emergency, these engineers can be used by any Band for the right fee, particularly when there's a risk of the engine overheating.   The engine overheating is a great danger with a Skulker. If this happens, there is a high chance of an explosion of an arcane nature. This could result in missing limbs or arcane transformations that are as bad if not worse than that of the arcane storms that occur in the region.

Appearance

There are many different types of Skulkers that act in a different capacity depending on its design. Each Skulker is unique as they are formed by the different remnants of scrap that an inventor can find and use to repair such a machine. Most Skulkers are at between 9 and 14 feet long and can contain anywhere between 1 and 10 passengers. Despite these generic features, there actual design of a Skulker will be determined by its purpose within a Band or as a vehicle.

Variants

Skirmisher

The most common variant of a Skulker, the idea behind a Skirmisher is to combine combat effectiveness and agility. The Skirmisher design is often around 10 to 12 feet long and will fit 2 to 3 people as a part of the driving capabilities of the vehicle.

Brute

The largest of the Skulker variants, the Brute often has a large front design that acts as a large seige weapon aginst buildings. The Brute design most often will hold 5 to 10 people and be 15 to 20 feet long. The aim is to strike and infiltrate ruins or other Skulker Bands.

Guardian

A Guardian Skulker is often designed to hold several people as a transport vehicle. Its often 20 to 25 feet long and contains the most passengers of any type of Skulker, 3 people are required to drive most Guardians while they can contain another 8 to 12 people who can launch from the Guardian in an attack.

Scout

The smallest of the Skulkers, the Scout often only fits a single driver whose goal is to be faster than all other members of the Skulker Band. Commonly a Scout Skulker is only 7 to 10 feet long and has much less armor plating than other Skulkers in a way to speed forward without extra weight holding them down.

I love that you've gone into detail on the different variants of skulker. I also really like that the engineers are under the protection of all the skulker bands. That's a nice element.
