Min-Min Academy

The Min-Min Academy is the center of the Pilari city of Min-Min. Thousands of years ago, before the cities of Pilaz was founded, a man with the name of Min-Min founded the academy in the pursuit of knowledge. It was from the vast libraries of the academy that brought forth the Pilari culture and most regents of the 13 cities have had some education from within the walls of the academy. Min-Min houses the largest collections of books, manuscripts, research and information about pretty much anything you can imagine. It's a known fact that Cyrus, the greatest mistweaver of the ages has said: "If you can't find it in Min-Min the information doesn't exist."

Purpose / Function

The academy these days focuses on gathering information from the farthest corners of the continent and beyond the seas when they can. This information is brought to the curators to be transcribed, translated and transferred into the deep vaults. The curators of the academy is one of the few people who enjoys free access to most countries, cities and kingdoms of the continent simply because they have ancient contracts that allows them to gather information far and wide, some of these contracts are older than certain kingdoms. The academy is also one of the few places on the continent where there exists knowledge of the planes of existance. The true purpose of the academy when you ask the headmaster of Min-Min is to maintain the truth, without political agenda. But some whisper that there is something more sinister at work within the deep vaults that runs under the City of Min-Min.

Alterations

The academy started out as a small library, almost 10 millennia ago. This building actually still exists within the massive building that exists today and is called "The First Auditorium" in which only a select few can ever gain access, it's said that there exists forbidden knowledge there. About 8 millennia ago the Academy of that time started burning, luckily only about a third of the knowledge stored there was lost and since then about 90% has been recovered. It was about 5 millennia ago when the academy took the shape and form it has to this day even though it has been rebuilt due to the natural erosion of time.

Architecture

The first thing you see when you enter the city of Min-Min (which isn't protected by any major walls other than a simple palisade which surrounds the city) is the enormous academy in the center. The academy is massive enough to be considered a small city, protected by a bulwark of stone and mist, an 80 foot high wall surrounds the entire complex. This wall has stood since it's construction without any sign of decay or aging. The wall seem to be carved from a giant block of stone when looked at it from any distance greater than a couple of meters, but when seeing it up close you can see the small gaps where the stones have been slotted into each other like an enormous puzzle. Within the walls lies the academy, a large golden dome adorns the top of the central building which was the first major building that was built after the great fire, while looking at the dome at sunrise or sunset it looks as if it is on fire, a constant reminder of ages past. The rest of the massive complex consists of annexes that sprawl from the center into every direction with architecture that defies a singular explanation, a mixture of styles and masonry from all the ages of Noordhlands history. To walk across the entire complex from wall to wall would take almost half a day and to visit each of the many rooms, libraries, research centers and vaults would take multiple lifetimes. The dome is the highest point of the academy which rises high up into the sky, at an astonishing 480 feet and inside the dome lies the headmasters office.

History

Min-min isn't part of history, it IS history. The motto of the academy is "Intra historiam lapis" loosely translated from Old Almekian to "History inside stone" as such pretty much anything that happened on the continent also happened to Min-Min in some way. The three bigest events in the history of the academy are the following: The Great Fire, which burned away vasts amounts of knowledge not stored in the deep vaults. The hindrance of Oghm the destroyer, it was just outside the city of Min-min where the devourer of life finally met his end, the curators of Min-Min were the first to inspect and verify the death of Oghm without understanding what stopped his crusade of death. The third and probably most important is the signing of the Compact of Pilaz which was written inside the walls of Min-Min, it's the greatest achievement the ages as because of that contract between the cities of Pilaz, the 13 cities have never been sacked or burned, all becuase of an ancient promise that no army would ever lay claim to any of the 13 cities on the punishment of death. The Compact of Pilaz was signed over 4000 years ago and the cities has since then remained figuratively untouched.
