Maiar Rathiain Aralynn

Rathiain Aralynn is the head of the great Elven noble house Aralynn and commander of the Elven Core. He is a Blademaster, and his skill with the sword is rumored to only be surpassed by that of his son, Camus Aralyn. He is also a master strategist and an expert at leading armies.


Rathiain is powerfully built for an Elf, and is physically intimidating. This is helpful in training new recruits for House Aralynn. It has also led some to question whether he has human blood though, a rumor that Rathiain not only denies but has a short temper about.


Rathian is a strong believer that the elves must remain strong and powerful to protect themselves form the world's dangers. While he knows that diplomacy is important, he also knows that many of the other humanoid races are not the kinds to deal honestly, and only respect strength. This also is true of his own life and personal relationship. Rathiain tries to take the stance of the strongest in an social situation sometime even bullying other into doing what he wants. A trait that his son dislikes very strongly.


Rathiain carry a Spirit Blade, one of six magical Elven Swords that were created for the Ellasti's greatest warriors. These sword have powerful enchantments, and can only be used by a member of the bloodline of the original owner.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Rathiain is stronger and more heavily built than most elves.  He is tall for an Elf, almost 6 feet.  He is in excellent physical condition, spending time each day training.

Apparel & Accessories

Rathiain usually wears his Elven Chain armor.  He is rarely seen out of it, unless going into battle, where he wears a full set of Mithril Platemail.

Specialized Equipment

RAthian always carries hi Spirit Blade.  A magical sword that was passed down to him form his father.  The blade has the ability to make him move faster and is highly enchanter and can cut through most objects.

Personal history

Rathiain was born into House Aralynn, and has trained to be a fighter all his life.  His father Earneach was Maiar before him and serve the King for many years, from before the great Shadow wars.  Rathiain showed skill at arms form an early age, often in the top of his training class.  His father other spent a lot of extra time with him in hopes that he would be his father's successor.  Rathiain was actually small and frail as a child, and though he was very skilled many thought he would not have the fortitude to become a great warrior.  As He neared the end of his growing years though, RAthian had a growth spurt in which he went from the smallest in his class to the largest.  In fact it happened so quickly, that he had to learn a different wat of fighting but with the training that he had available to him, and his own focus at learning better fighting techniques, he quickly adjusted.  


While Rathiain was one of the most skilled in his circle, he was not the most well liked.  He was very aware of his status and was not afraid to use ot to get what he wanted.  This drew others to him that on their behalf,  he would also use his influence, making him popular, if not adored.  As rahtian matured he also developed a short temper, which made it difficult for people to like him.  Even today, Rathiain has very few true friends, though he has a lot of people who support and benefit from him.  


At !50 years Rathiain wed Caenenda of House Farsalor in an arranges marriage.  There were rumors that it was against the will of Caenenda, as she had often been seen in the company of a another young Elf, who left Elvenhome to live on the outskirts about the time of her wedding.  Some say that he left because he feared for his life.  Rathiain was also known for his jealousy.  He has two son, and a daughter.

When Rayhtiain father passed to Arvendar, the council was hesitant to raise Rathian to Maiar.  His temper and quick call to use force concerned them, but his skill in war was not match b any others.  House Farsolar, a long time ally of Aralynn vouched for him, and explained that in time, his temper would settle, and he was raised to the head of the house.  He also inherited his father's Spirit Blade.  

In his time as head of Aralynn, he has proven time and time again his skill in the fighting arts and has helped keep the city safe from the monstrous humanoid that roam the land.  The great orc uprising was a true test of his ability and that of the Elven Core, as they fought off the largest force of Orc ever to assail the city.  Rathiain and his some personally slew the ORc chieftain, causing the ranks to break and flee.

Rathiain is attracted to female elves and is married.

Education

Rathiain spent much of his time learning the art of war, and honing his skill in weapons.  He did not study much of other topics except where it related to armed confrontation.  He did not go through the normal education of a elven child, and therefore is not as proficient as many other elves in topics unrelated to combat.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Rathiain is the second greatest Blademaster in Elvenhome, and a master strategist.  He has many accolade for his skill with a blade, and other weapons or fighting arts.  
Rathiain fought and defeated the Great Orc Chief Ologork, who was said to be blessed by Tahkene, with only a little help form his son.  This act alone caused the Orcs in Ologork's guard to break and run, which had a majot effect o the rest of the orc horde.  Some say it saved the elves from being overwhelmed anf was the reason they were able to turn bacl the ORc horde.

Failures & Embarrassments

Rathiain is known for public arguments with his wife.  One of the most embarrassing he suffered is when he slapped his daughter during a council meeting.  She had arrived uninvited to protest the closing the Elvenhome during the beginning of the Vemoraxx Invasion.    Rathiain was for the closing, and they got into a heated argument.  He lost his temper and slapped her in front of the council.  He apologized for his actions after but many people remember him for this.

Morality & Philosophy

Rathiain often believed that right answer to a conflict is force.  He has spent much time fighting monsters or other creatures who have no sense or diplomacy, that his first instinct id to solve matter with force.  While he understands that the Elvene way is to try to be non violent he simply believe that there are too many powers in the world that only respect violence and strength.

Family Ties

Rathiain has two sons, and a daughter, and is married.  His mother i still on Nor while his father has passed on to Arvendar.

Religious Views

Rathiain, like most Elesti, recognizes the Erothian Pantheon, but does not see them as God, only as powerful beings.  While he was born on Nor, his devotion to the Elders of Arvendar is strong.

Social Aptitude

Rathian does not make allies easy, as he is gruff and can be quick to anger.  He also has a strong belief that an elf should respect their station and defer to any of higher status.  This puts him at odds with some of the yonger more progressive elves.
