Rene Dupreaux
Rene Dupreaux, Pirate, Scholar, Avante-Garde Novelist
Born in late fall of 770, to a doting couple, Auguste Dupreaux and Laurena Dupreaux, in Seaport. They had a modest home, a couple of servants, and a great business running a popular Chandlery, which served the notable homes and citizens. To a young man, the potential life of a candle maker, however rich, was a dull as being a Chandler. Thus after at age 13 he took a Midshipman's billet aboard an armed courier.
The few years he spent learning the hard life of the sea left him dissatisfied. He yearned for the adventure he could not get aboard such a ship. An excellent seaman, a stout fighter, and possessing a sharp mind, Dupreaux found his wanderlust returning, and at 18 he found a new, fulfilling mission - Piracy!!
Rene Dupreaux found himself aboard the good ship, Ramilies' Revenge, named for the lover of Jezebelle McMullins, the captain the vessel. Here he served, well, for about a decade, before he encountered a particularly unusual prisoner - a Literary Agent for the Worshipful Association of Erudite Explicators - a printing guild. This man overheard the tales Rene told during off-watch, and offered to help him tell his Saucy Tale to the wider world.
This came to pass, and Rene Dupreaux wrote the thrilling tale Sea of Sin, a true bodice ripper, filled with naughty tales, and very detailed romantic scenes. It was an instant hit and Dupreaux became rich for a while. The same amount of time that it took the authorities to clamp down on the scandalous book. Its publication was banned, and Dupreaux, once again a poorer man, returned to the sea to contemplate his next move...
