Trevayn d'Malinois

Ser. Trevayn d'Malinois (a.k.a. Trevayn)

Ser. Trevayn d'Malinois, son of Ser. Hugo d'Malinois, and Dame Ludmila Bawden, stewards of a small estate east of Twin Moons. He is an Aasimar, touched by the blood of a Hound Archon in the distant past. Given to the service of the church of Gilidan after showing a passion for the printed word and accumulation of knowledge. He has come to Emic to deposit various special tomes of Gilidan's Lore in the Great Library to try and ensure their survival against the rapacious hunger for tragedy that fills this world.

Personal history

The Current Man Who is that tall, wiry humanoid, with salt/pepper hair, a cunning smile, and a fine cloak? Its Trevayn Auguste d’Malinois! This almond eyed, goatee wearing, Hound Archon heritage aasimar, is on a mission to recover lost tomes of worthy knowledge, and to preserve it for the survivors of a future catastrophe. As a follower of Gillidan he is a servant of the cause of learning, and knowledge. Beneath his well-crafted, and well-worn, grey robe, with the hems trimmed in red/silver text, taken from the teachings of the God, he bears a few interesting scars, and a fine tattoo of his master’s symbol. This symbol, taken upon completing his Noviciate trials, is an intricate web, which is being inked in as he reaches milestones in his personal development. He also has a mean looking, crude, bulls-head brand on his thigh. Though he wears a monocle when perusing aged papers, and speaks with a pleasant baritone, the main, notable trait of his heritage, is that in clear sunlight his hair turns to a splendid red-gold; in moonlight it turns to a pure silver.   His Youth Born in 741 AS to Ser Hugo d’Malinois and Dame Ludmila Bawden, masters of a small estate to the east Twin Moons in the old Eroth. As their third son he was due to be taken by the Vemorax, but through his parents love, combined with a deception as a foster from a distant family member, he was able to enjoy a home life until 8 years of age. At this time his Aasimar heritage could no long be easily concealed. In his time with his family, he was deeply loved, and cherished – as well as given numerous role models to chase after. The most fond of these were the heroes of old Eroth, mixed with a few of the more recent “champions” so that he is familiar with them. He left the rocky shores of the Twin Moons area at 8 when he was entered into the service of Gilidan as a novice. His last memories of his family from this time are of being given a send off by his family, and a small bear by his sister, Lorelli Bawden-d’Malinois. Over the long years since he has spent good time in correspondence with various family members, and is well aware of their current status. His other siblings are the eldest son, Rhoderick D’Malinois, due to inherit the barony, Lady Juvenia Bawden-d’Malinois, who is well married to a family in Twin Moons. The youngest, Lorelli, is a courtesan at the Lord of Twin Moon’s court. She is a Lady in Waiting to his wife. These three do not correspond anymore, though my parents have filled me in upon their lives at every turn. He did not see them after his departure until he was young man devoted to the god, pursuing the life of his heroic idols of his youth. When I did, I found out that I was their true son, and had this concealed to prevent the Vemorax taking me into their service. A similar set up protected my youngest sister.   The Monastery… At the Monastery of Gilidan, Trevayn found two other novices that shared much of his attitude and outlooks. The first, Miles Bingham, a halfling roguish tomb-delver, has been a companion on many delves into the ancient past. The second, Clemence Codd, a half-elven incantor, a scholar of lost magics, has been a dear friend for years. These two and I have had many interesting times over the years, meeting regularly when we can, and sharing adventures as often as possible. The first story of our companionship began when Miles thought to craft a still in the woods outside the monastery. We got hammered and had to be found by the local ranger and his massive brown bear companion. Being drunk we tried to flee in terror from the ursine mass that snuffled us to wakefulness. Trevayn spent his formative years receiving a comprehensive education until he was old enough to go into the field with his mentor, Aibyn Dare. This man gave Trevayn a strong appreciation for lawful and goodly conduct between the peoples of the world. He is a true cleric of the faith, and devoted to finding the lost works. Their first foray into the recovery of the lost arts, taken with Lore Master Dare, was to the Lost Library of Tsum Wurdz, high in the mountains, overlook a pristine valley of pine and spruce. This long dead Astromancer had left a subterranean complex replete with lost lore and the lost souls of the dead. The first encounter with the undead was traumatic on the young man, but he stood against the darkness- and thus found his own courage.       His Recent Years In the time since, Trvayn has formed numerous acquaintances, and a few solid relationships. Those of note are Patasha Zain, a southron lady in Seaport, Natasha Kerensky, a Condorian noblewoman, both being affairs of the heart. The High notable in the faith, High Pasha Sarmat Rubaiev has been a mentor for years, residing in the Monastery near Twin Moons where Trevayn began his service. The last few deeper delves have included….   The Affair of the Sixth Scroll of Themis the Wise     The Case Lord Komet Da’an and the Tome of Shagret     The Events Surrounding the Baron of Nix and his Library     The Knight, Fornacis, and the Last Book of Eirdanys     The 11th Night of Phoenix and the Last Star of Cetus     The Path to Hilston The goodly Trevayn, worn from the events of the Star of Cetus returned to his monastery to rest and recuperate. The abbot thought, after a suitable time, it would be good for Trevayn to carry the copies of the recovered books to the Library in Hilston. This required preparations and travel to the far side of the ocean. Travel of this distance was an opportunity for the people to send some books to the temple in Seaport as well. In Seaport Travayn stayed with his family connection – an Uncle who served as the Special Ambassador to the city. He is Edmond d’Malinois. I also visited the specialist and exotic Jerky shop.
