History
The Valley of the Gods was magically created when the Statue of Sul was completed in 282. Worship of the Gods had fallen to a low, and a Priest of Sul, called Tobin dedicated his life to bringing the word of the Gods back to the people.
One night he received a vision in his dream, and was given a quest by his goddess. To gather as many follower as he could and bring them Gold Ddale. She did not tell him why though, only that Somethign wonderful was going to happen.
Considering the time, this made Tobin task almost impossible, as he had no reason to give the people why he wanted them to gather. However his faith was strong and he was a very charismatic person. In addition he was a great hero who has save many people due to his good deeds and was part of the group that destryed the Great Shadow Dragon Scylla, and helped Keribus ascend to Godhood.
Why he did not know is while he was gathering people, they were going to Gold Dale and were also visited by vision of the goddess. She bade them to erect a statue in her honor.
The work took five years but when Tobin finally returned to the Gold Dale, He saw the massive statue lying upon the earth, 200 feet tall. He was not only amazed at the craftmanship of the work that these people, who had never carved stone before in their lives was able to accomplish, but at the pure faith it took to give up their lives to the time it took to create the statue.
Tobin had been contemplating his own faith during his travels, as he say lots of hardship and strife and evil in the world. He had actually meant to return to tell the people to leave and renounce his faith, unti he saw what they had then. His heart was renewed, and Sul imbued him with great power. With his faith alone, he drew the statue up and placed it on the pedestal that they had built.
As soon as the statue stood erect, a doorway opened in the pedesta, and the people of Sul entered the Valley of the Gods for the first time. Though it has no temples or shrines, the valley was beautiful and all that witnessed this heard the voice of Sul. "This Valley I give to you, but not to you alone. It is to celebrate the faith of all the people and my brother and sister deities who they worship. Let this place be ever free of violence and antipathy. Let all those who worship do so freely here. "
From that day the magical might of Sul has protected the Valley.
