Sons of the Stars

When the Derelict King took the crowns from the long lived zodiac houses, he made himself and his life an enemy that would endure as long as the stars burned in their empirical orbs in the cosmos. The SOns of the Stars came together, remnants of long elevated dynasties and sworn banners to those ancient crowns, now with one goal in mind, the extermination and usurpation of the seemingly tyrannical and nihilistic seat of the Abyssal throne.

Naming Traditions

Family names

The family names of the Sons of the Stars reflects those of their ancient houses and powers, that have since been diminished in the world after the establishment of the Abyssal throne. Seeing as they are a collection of disgraced lords and disowned family of formerly powerful and/or ruling families, they do notchoose to keep their names from their past, in order to forge a newer and more distinguished prestige of their own. Their names are warped perversions of their former glory both as an insult to their legitimate cousins, as well as a homage to their past forebears.

Culture and cultural heritage

The Sons of the Stars draw their heritage back to the ancient crowned Zodiac monarchs and the culture in which that order prevailed. In those days, Mother Nora was divided into the Twelve nations. governed by a Zodiac King. beneath them were a swelling of loyal banner houses and sworn-swords and would hold and police territory under the direct control of their liege Zodiac King. They observed courtly etiquette and the imperialist system, where a hierarchy is put in place where the common folk many rarely to never be elevated above their station and those born into nobility often with in the lap of luxury.

Birth & Baptismal Rites

When a child is born into the Sons of the Stars, they are baptized in the light of their birth constellation, as is the ancient rite, in this way, it is believed that the constellation will take note of the child and bind it in their faith and virtues so that the child may grow up to be acknowledged and celebrated by the stars, and perhaps, even, be welcomed into their brilliance upon their passing.

Gender Ideals

The Sons of Stars observe a very traditional sense of gender roles, according to the imperialist framework. In an attempt to revisit their former glories as the crowned Zodiac monarchs, they observe patriarchal ideals, where the men are in charge and the women are to support their husbands and paramores without question. War is the work of men, ruling is the work of men, and retaking their long lost birthright is the fate of all men sworn to the Sons of Stars. The women, are instructed on the ways to please the men and sooth them, however, they are also instructed on how to conduct their own battles off the battlefield. Poison and words are their weapons, and they are encouraged to use them and hone them to a fine edge.

Courtship Ideals

Courtship within the Sons of Stars works according to the ancient practice, where depending upon the stars you were born under, the time of day, as well as the day and month of the year will define who your possible matches will be when a young man is ready to wed. Women do not have a choice, however, they are subject to the same strict guidelines according to their birth cosmology. It is incredibly taboo for a couple within the Sons of Stars to be wed not adhering to these strict ideals. In some extreme cases, the couple has been ostracized or even executed for breaking the doctrine.

Major organizations

In the eyes of the Abyssal throne, the Sons of the Stars are an anti-establishment organization with terrorist tendencies and fugitive leadership. For this reason, they hold no lands officially in the eyes of the crown and are actively sought out through a series of inquests and inquisitions in order to root them out and bury their grudges and ideals. For this reason, no one recorded to have been a member or has been documented to have granted asylum to a member of the Sons of the Stars has been granted amnesty in the eyes of the Abyssal throne and are treated with extreme prejudice. On the other hand, the Sons of Stars have collected a vast network of sympathizers and underground movements to back them in their secrecy as well as in their motives and endeavors. Since they are unable to hold lands without it being seized or destroyed by the crown on a regular basis, their base of operations moves frequently, as does their agents and leadership, making them difficult to track and pin down. In more recent years, the Sons have become more elusive, blending into society so as not to raise suspicion as they endeavor to pursue their endgoals.
