Her parents were scallywags of the Steaming Sea west of Magnimar, raised in the pirate life, but when she was nearly of age her parents had been captured by the Magnimar Navy and they turned her over knowing they would be hanged for their crimes. Her parents made sure she had a chance and she was going to make her life the best life she could. Able and cunning Elyse found easy work on a commerce ship as a deck hand working up to first mate. there her talents for fighting began and culminated in seeking magical arts to combine with her fine bladework. Seeking a better place practice her talents she signed on to the Magnimar Navy and for 15 years she has climbed the ranks to be a Fleet Captain, she commands 5 vessels to patrol the Varisian gulf and the Steaming Sea.
