Sturbin The Red

A Hobgoblin who would be the head of the arcane council in Mage Fang were it not for his refusal to join it. He is as intelligent as any in the clan, and his research has lead to discoveries of greater specialization of evocation than any other in the clan, perhaps the world. He is a traditionalist, he opposes the alliance with the Stolyn family, he is not hostile towards them but feels the Mage Fangs should remain isolated and free standing of any alliances. Sturbin is what is known as a Blooded Hobgoblin, and despite its name its a social honor, given to those who have performed great service or sacrifice for the good of his own people. For Sturbin it was the former. He lead an attack on an invading force on their eastern border, a barbaric tribe that spearheaded inland after invading the coast. Because of Sturbin the force was fought off and was so defeated they had to leave back across the ocean. In the same attack Sturbin lost his only son, a powerful transmuter. The loss has turned the old wizard to dislike most races that aren't from Mage Fang blood. Lastly Sturbin has taken part in training over a hundred casters. He uses a trial by fire method, forcing his students to breaking points and showing them how to succeed. This extreme method is nothing if not effective. For this, among many other reasons, he is highly respected throughout the Mage Fang Clan.
